#COVIDCatLady, Day 132

Guys, remember that one day when Chinese netizens demanded freedom of speech on social media? It didn’t get very far. They couldn’t petition or protest. There was no local elected official to be called. The posts didn’t stay online.

Why was it that the injustice most Chinese people swallowed and condoned in silence before suddenly became intolerable?

Smarter people than me had been saying this: COVID-19 has thrown the inequality and broken systems in our world into sharp relief.

You can protest. You can vote. You can have an informed opinion and speak out on behalf of those who cannot. You’re angry now, and that’s OK. Make that anger count. Anger is not a bad emotion, it shows us what we can no longer tolerate. It drives us.

Feel it. Channel it.
